Despite some of the natural ups and downs we experience, we are all blessed at the core. Sure, Thanksgiving means turkey and home cooking, but it also serves as a reminder to express gratitude.. not just today, but every day!
It is extremely easy to get caught up in our daily routines, overlooking the need to express gratitude for what is important to us. I am a true believer that whatever we focus our energy on, will indeed come full circle. Therefore, the more gratitude we express during our day, the healthier and happier our lives will be.
For this reason, I consciously incorporate gratitude as a part of my everyday routine. I’ve found that keeping a gratitude journal on my night stand is helpful. It allows me to end my day on a positive note by writing three things I am thankful for (aka positive reflection). This ensures I do not lose sight of what is important in my life and that my value system always remains in sight.
You certainly don’t have to take my word for it.. Scientists have found empirical evidence that people who regularly practice expressions of gratitude experience stronger immune systems, less joint pain and better sleep quality. Other studies have shown that happier people intentionally focus on gratitude daily (causality or correlation?).
